Remembrance Sunday is a chance for everyone to take a pause from their busy lives and remember the brave soldiers who died for their country.

There are memorials for those lost in war all over Bromley borough.

Here is a guide to the memorial services taking place this Sunday:

Bromley

Mayor Kathy Bance will attend the Service in Bromley Parish Church. Those attending the service should arrive by 10.30am. After the service, the Civic party will go to the War Memorial for a wreath laying ceremony.

Beckenham 

A service and wreath laying ceremony will take place at Beckenham War Memorial in High Street Beckenham, lasting about 45 minutes and a parade will follow the service. Those attending this service should arrive at the War Memorial by 10.15am.

Bickley

There will be a service at St. George’s Parish Church in Bickley Park Road. It will start at 10.30 am.

Biggin Hill

There will be a service at St. Mark’s Church in Church Rd, Biggin Hill, at 9.30am.

A wreath will be laid at the Biggin Hill War Memorial at 10.45 am.

Bromley Common and Keston

There will be a service at the Holy Trinity Church in Church Lane, Bromley Common, followed by a wreath laying ceremony at the Memorial in the churchyard at 11.00am.

There will be a lesson at Keston Parish Church, in Church Road, Keston, at 10.00 am followed by a walk from Keston Village at 10.40 am to the War Memorial in Heathfield Road for laying of wreaths.

Chelsfield and Pratts Bottom

There will be a service at St. Martin of Tours in Church Road, Chelsfield at 10.45am, during which a wreath will be laid.

Cray Valley East

There will be a wreath laying ceremony at the War Memorial at 11.00am, followed by a church service at St Mary Cray Parish Church in the High Street.

Cray Valley West

A wreath will be laid at the service at St. Barnabas Church in Rushet Road, St. Paul’s Cray, at 10.30am.

Chislehurst

A lesson will be read at a service at St. Nicholas Church in Church Lane, Chislehurst. It will take place at 9.30am and will be followed by a wreath laying ceremony at the War Memorial.

Farnborough & Crofton

There will be a ceremony at the War Memorial. Those attending should assemble at the Lych Gate of St. Giles the Abbot Church in Church Road, Farnborough Village at 10.30am.

A wreath will be laid at St. Paul’s Church, in Crofton Road, at 10.15am.

Hayes and Coney Hall

A wreath will be laid at St. Mary the Virgin in Hayes Street, Hayes, at 10.30am followed by a short ceremony at the War Memorial in the church grounds.

Mottingham and Chislehurst North

There will be a service at Mottingham War Memorial which starts at 10.30 am followed by a wreath laying ceremony at the Memorial. Councillor Charles Rideout CVO, QPM will represent the Borough and lay a wreath at St. Edward’s Church, Mottingham.

Orpington

There will be a wreath laying ceremony at Orpington War Memorial at 10am, followed by a service at All Saints Parish Church in Bark Hart Road, Orpington, at 10.50am. Afterwards there will be a further wreath laying ceremony at Canadian Corner.

Penge and Cator

A service will be held at St John’s Church in the High Street, Penge, at 10.00am followed by a wreath laying ceremony and service at the Memorial opposite the Church at 10.45am.

A service will take place at Holy Trinity Church in Lennard Road, Penge. The service will start at 10.30 am followed by a wreath laying ceremony at the Memorial.

There will be a wreath laying ceremony at the Kent House Road Memorial, in Kent House Road, which commences at 12pm.

Petts Wood and Knoll

There will be a service at St. Francis Church in Willett Way, Petts Wood, at 10.00am. This will be followed by a wreath laying ceremony at Petts Wood Memorial, which is expected to take place at around 11.00 am.

Plaistow and Sundridge

A wreath will be laid at St. Andrew’s Church in Burnt Ash Lane, at 10.00am.

A wreath will be laid at St. John’s Church, in Park Road, Bromley, at 9.45am.

Shortlands

There will be a service at St. Mary’s Church, in Kingswood Road, at 10.00am. During the service the congregation will walk to the War Memorial for the rededication Memorial service at around 10.45am.

Upper Norwood – Crystal Palace

There will be a wreath laying ceremony at The Upper Norwood War Memorial, in Westow Street, Crystal Palace at 10.45am.

West Wickham

There will be a wreath laying ceremony at the War Memorial at 10.45am. Those attending should assemble for the Parade at Croft Avenue Car Park at 10.10am.
