A school in St Mary Cray school has been rated ‘outstanding’ in two out of five categories by Ofsted.

St Mary Cray Primary Academy on the High Street was rated ‘good’ overall in a report published by Ofsted.

The school was rated ‘outstanding’ in both the Early Years and Leadership categories.

It is the first time Ofsted has rated the school since it was turned into an academy in September 2014.

Headteacher Adam Lowing said: “The judgement is nothing less than what our inspirational children, parents and staff deserve.

“We are proud to have received such an excellent report which recognises our academic results and our enriching approach.”

Ann Millard, parent, said “I am so happy that the school has got such a great report. My children have loved the learning, sport, music and much more that goes on. It’s a brilliant school. Well done St Mary Cray Primary!”

Orpington MP Jo Johnson said: “Congratulations to everyone involved with St Mary Cray Primary Academy on the result of their Ofsted inspection.

“This fantastic achievement is a consequence of the drive and ambition that the school has shown.

“I have seen for myself how the school is committed to an enriching curriculum and pastoral care, including through the establishment of the Oasis Community Hub.

“The school has created an environment where children can learn and succeed and continues to go from strength to strength. This can only be of benefit to local residents.”
