A dog has had to have her leg amputated after being found dumped in an Orpington garden with veterinary bandages and a catheter.
Vets who examined the animal's injured leg found "severe nerve and issue damage" that was beyond repair and an amputation was done.
Homeowners in Crofton Road found injured Chino, a female Belgian German Shepherd dog, sitting helplessly in their front garden at 7.30am on July 8.
RSPCA deputy chief inspector Anthony Pulfer rushed to her assistance and believed she could not have gotten there on her own.
He said: “The poor dog was clearly in a lot of pain.
“She might have been deliberately left there which is a horrible thought.”
Chino was later taken to RSPCA Putney Animal Hospital for further treatment.
An RSPCA spokesman said: “Chino is making a great recovery post-amputation.
“When vets examined her leg it was found that she actually had severe nerve and tissue damage, beyond what could be repaired and an amputation was the only option for her.
“She is recovering well and will be moved to an RSPCA centre shortly where, if her owner cannot be traced, she will be available for rehoming with loving new owners.”
