A new scheme could prevent children and vulnerable adults from getting lost in Bromley.

Parents and carers can attach their contact details to free wristbands that have been designed to reunite separated loved ones.

The scheme has been launched during National Dementia Week and is supported by police and retailers in Bromley town centre.

Tom Stoker, owner of Pret a Manger in the High Street said: “Nothing is more worrying than losing someone in a busy town centre, whether it’s a child or an elderly or vulnerable adult.

“This scheme is a great idea and we fully support it. Our staff are all fully briefed on the scheme and, as well as handing out wristbands, they know to look out for anyone lost who may be wearing one too.”

“Keeping Together” stickers have been displayed in participating shops.

Mark Saddler, manager of the Bromley Dementia Support Hub, said: “Schemes like this are simple, effective ways of supporting people with dementia and their carers.

“We are really pleased that retailers in Bromley are getting involved to make Bromley a dementia friendly community.”

Frances Forrest, manager of Your Bromley, the business improvement district for Bromley, added: “We want visitors to Bromley town centre to enjoy their time here.

“We believe this scheme will help reassure parents and carers that, in the unlikely event that they become separated from those in their care, they will be reunited as quickly as possible.”
