The wait is nearly over for a Bromley father and son who are reopening a disused warehouse in St Mary Cray as a huge trampoline park.

Daniel and Tony Locke, have faced “hurdle after hurdle” to open Airjump trampoline centre with planning permission rejected and trampoline regulations changing.

The centre, originally meant to be opening last month, will officially open on Sunday.

Daniel said: “It’s nice now when it is empty and tidy, but I really can’t wait to see people having a bounce, it will be so rewarding.”

The centre will employ around 50 people from the area, including Daniel’s brother and his fiancé for the first few weeks.

Daniel said: “We want to cater for the whole family. There is not much to do in the area for kids, we are going to offer mother and toddler sections and really focus on family time.”

A change in trampoline regulations means that Daniel’s 14,000 square foot needed more works done just as it was meant to be opening.

“We had hurdle after hurdle, it felt really unfair and we didn’t want to string people along.

“I am over the moon that it is finally opening now though, and I am looking forward to meeting the people who have been supporting us since we started this.”

Daniel and his father Tony had their first planning permission rejected because of concerns about depriving a business area a unit.

The warehouse had been empty since 2013 and after a second attempt the father and son team were granted permission to change the unit use.

Daniel said: “As long as there are no freak accidents, there is light at the end of the tunnel and I’m over the moon for it to be opening.”

A VIP opening will take place tomorrow April 7, with the public opening on Sunday.
