Woman dies in Orpington house fire
A woman has died in a house fire in Orpington.
Four fire engines and 21 firefighters were called to a fire in a semi-detached house in Chesterfield Close in the early hours of this morning.
The fire badly damaged the ground and first floors of the property.
Crews rescued a woman from the ground floor but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Brigade was called at 3.17am and the fire was under control at 5.19am. Crews from Orpington and Sidcup fire stations attended the incident.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
