These stunning aircraft pictures have been chosen as the best entries in an annual photo competition run by Biggin Hill Airport.

Nikki Blake, from Biggin Hill, whose after-dark shot of a Harvard G-CTKL was taken at the Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar, has been selected as the overall winner of this year’s contest.

Her striking photograph shows the historic aircraft against the backdrop of the lights of the airfield as dusk fell.

She wins a photographer’s pass into the Festival of Flight 2017 as well as a trial flying lesson with Falcon Flying Services which manages the airport’s two flying clubs.

Along with the winning entry, four runners-up will have their pictures displayed at the Lookout Coffee Shop at the airport.

Will Curtis, managing director of the airport, said, “The quality of submissions this year has been superb and narrowing down a shortlist of finalists proved difficult.

“The winning shot really stood out for its sheer simplicity and the contrast of past and present.”

Next year’s competition will open in the spring of 2017 as part of the 100th anniversary celebrations of the airfield.
