Bromley Council’s trading standards team is urging parents to be careful their children’s Halloween garb doesn’t catch fire and only buy costumes with a CE label.
Councillor Kate Lymer, portfolio holder for public protection and safety, said: “We would encourage parents to be vigilant and aware of the potential risks with fancy dress costumes and fire or naked flames.
“The simple advice is to keep children away from candles or use an LED equivalent.
“While this advice always applies, as Halloween is approaching and more children may wear wigs and masks, this is a timely reminder.”
Costumes without a CE mark should be reported to 03454 040506.
