A new road marking in Penge demands drivers KEEP CEEAR, after a spelling blunder left residents scratching their heads.
The painted sign in Maple Road, which is supposed to read KEEP CLEAR, appeared last week.
A spokesman for Bromley Council said the error occurred when Southern Gas Network (SGN) dug up and then relayed the tarmac to carry out underground repair works.
He told News Shopper: “We will instruct SGN to correct their mistake at their expense.”
But it’s not the first time sign writers have struggled with typos in Bromley, after two different spellings of a Penge road were spotted.
One welcomed residents to Watermen’s Square, while the other stated it was Watermens Square.
In another spelling mishap Burnt Ash Primary school in Bromley installed their new ‘SHCOOL’ sign.
Headteacher Leah Crawley said it was a mistake by the manufacturer and corrected within three hours.
