A fox, called Cedar, has made a full recovery after he was shot in the head with a crossbow in Chislehurst earlier this year.

In February he was found near Gosshill Road with a crossbow bolt embedded in his head.

In a video by The Fox Project he can be seen enjoying some food before being released back into the wild.

The charity's director, Sandra Reddy, spoke about Cedar's long recovery.

She said: "He was here for about a month, usually we just fix whatever is wrong and then they're back on their home territory.

"He turned from a fox who was quite easy to handle to one who was very cross, they get very agitated.

"I think he was hungry when he got picked up but he couldn't wait to get back out there."

In a Facebook update The Fox Project wrote: Back in March of this year we featured Cedarwho had been shot through the jaw with a crossbow.

"After intensive care and treatments Cedar went back home and has been regularly monitored by one of our kind volunteers ever since.

"It seems Cedar had wandered quite far from his usual territory during the time of his attack.

He's doing okay and showing all the good signs of a wary fox!"

Unfortunately no one was caught in relation to the horrific attack.

At the time Terry Woods, an ambulance driver with the project said:“We removed the crossbow bolt from the fox’s head.

“He’s a lucky fox. The crossbow hit his skull from the back in a glancing blow and went straight through his cheek muscle coming through near his eye.

“He’s lucky not to have lost an eye.”

He added: "We don’t get many with crossbow injuries as they die outright, they tend to go straight through the chest.

"Or they go away and die horribly as this fox would have done."
