An armed robber who held up a dozen bookies and banks across Lewisham, Greenwich and Bromley has been jailed for 10 years.

Daley Doma, 32, pleaded guilty to nine counts of robbery, three counts of attempted robbery and 12 counts of possessing an imitation firearm.

Doma, from Croydon, would loiter around betting shops and banks he planned to rob, biding his time until an opportunity arose to threaten the cashiers.

MORE TOP STORIES He carried with him an imitation black semi-automatic gun which he used to intimidate staff into handing over cash.

During his crime spree, from August 1 to September 2, he stole more than £5,000.

Detective Constable Shona Wilkinson of the Met's Flying Squad, said: "Once at the desk he pointed a black semi-automatic pistol at the cashiers and demanded money.

“His robberies were aggressive and he didn't hesitate to threaten the terrified staff.

“At the HSBC Bank in Deptford he held an employee at gunpoint and demanded cash from his colleagues.

"This sentence is a coup for bookmakers and banks in the area.

“While we have established that Doma was using an imitation firearm, the reality is that many of those who were threatened by Doma - or witnessed the robberies - have been left shaken and fearful for their lives.”

After identifying Doma from CCTV, police issued an appeal in a bid to track him down, and just hours later on September 3 he was spotted in Deptford High Street.

After pleading guilty on November 24 at Snaresbrook Crown Court, he was sentenced at the same court on Friday (January 29) to 10 years for each count, to run concurrently.
