Flowers and tributes have appeared where a man was found dead amongst bushes on Sydenham Hill.

The man in his 30s, who has not yet been named by police, was found unresponsive in the bushes opposite the Lammas Green estate on August 21.

When paramedics arrived at around 8pm they pronounced him dead at the scene and a post mortem examination has confirmed that he died from a single gunshot wound.

Metropolitan Police officers found a firearm nearby.

Flowers and candles have been left at the scene with heartfelt messages attached.

One reads: "I am so very sad you have left us all so soon.

"I welcomed you into our family as a son and words cannot express the void."

Another from his partner says: "It feels like you're still with me every night. I miss you so much."

Forensics combed the scene on Saturday morning.

The man's death is still being treated as unexplained but an investigation has been launched by officers from the homicide and major crime command.

His next of kin have been informed.

Enquiries continue and there have been no arrests.
