A care home in Thamesmead has been rated outstanding in its latest CQC inspection.

Marlborough Court care home, along Copperfield Road, was found to be good in three categories; safe, caring and responsive, and outstanding in two; effective and well-led.

It was judged to be outstanding overall in the Care Quality Commission’s (CQC) report published on Tuesday (August 26).

The care home, run by Four Season 2000 Limited, cares for up to 78 elderly people the three wards; the Thames unit, the Union Jack unit and the King George unit.

MORE TOP STORIES The report stated: "The ethos of the home was positive and staff felt part of a team. Staff we spoke with reflected on the significant progress made by the service in the last three to four years.

"The service actively promoted people’s involvement with their local community."

The inspection found staff were highly trained in caring for people with dementia, and were knowledgeable in recognising abuse.

The report added: "People said they were cared for by staff who knew them as individuals and understood their needs."

The care home was the first in the UK to attain the Care Quality Mark for older deaf people.
