Two Bromley residents have pleaded guilty to fraud totalling more than £20,000.

Remi Olawole, 39, of High Street, Bromley, defrauded the council out of £19,175 from 2011 to 2014.

She was detained for an outstanding arrest warrant which led to an investigation, uncovering changes in her income and non-dependants she failed to declare.

She pleaded guilty to three counts of benefit fraud Bromley Magistrates’ last Thursday (July 23).

She was sentenced to four weeks imprisonment for each charge, 12 in total, to run consecutively which was suspended for two years.

The second resident is Amie Williams, 29, who falsely claimed £10,200 in housing and council tax benefits and job seekers allowance between 2013 and 2015.

After an investigation it was found Williams, of Mosslea Court in High Street, Penge, had various jobs and received a student loan.

She pleaded guilty at Bromley Magistrates’ last Thursday (July 23) and was handed a community order requiring her to carry out 200 hours unpaid work.

She will also have to pay £575 in costs and a £60 victim surcharge.

Both women will have a criminal record, and Bromley Council will try and recover the money.
