A restaurant in Beckenham was fined more than £10,000 after its fan and fridge were found to be too noisy.

Buddies Kitchen, along Croydon Road, was handed a £11,873.50 fine by Bromley Magistrates on Friday (July 24).

They breached two noise abatement notices after failing to fix a noisy kitchen extractor fan and fridge.

Neighbouring houses complained of the ‘particularly noisy’ eatery.

Two noise abatement notices were served in July 2014, and a further notice was sent but all were ignored.

MORE TOP STORIES Executive member for public protection and safety councilor, Kate Lymer, said: “This case shows that the Courts take the failure to comply with our notices seriously and those continuing to cause a nuisance will be dealt with in accordance with the law.

“In this case further monitoring will occur and the business will be subject to further action if the problem continues.”

Buddies was fined £3,000 for each breach of notice, £9,000 in total, £120 victim surcharge, and were ordered to pay costs of £2,753.50 to the council.

The company failed to attend court on five occasions before the case was heard on Friday in their absence.
