MP Bob Neill saluted the leader of a Bickley pre-school who retired after more than 30 years.

Monica Sanderson, 70, taught at St Geroge’s Church Pre-School, off Bickley Park Road, for the past three decades before finally stepping down last Friday (July 17).

Bromley and Chislehurst MP Bob Neill presented her with gifts at her leaving ceremony.

Mrs Sanderson, from Wythes Close, has taught hundreds of children over the decades, and even began teaching the children of her former pupils.

The mother of three and grandmother of six became leader of the pre-school, which teaches children aged two to five, exactly 33 years ago.

“I have had the privilege of having so many children in my care. It is truly wonderful to meet them grown up and now bringing children of their own.

“All this could only be done by the backing of such wonderful staff and I wish them well in the future.”

Bromley's deputy Mayor Coun Alan Collins also attended the celebration.
