Editor Andrew Parkes is a man with many thoughts, here are just five he’s had this week.

1. Now I’m a family man and very proud of the fact, but I have to admit I do get fed up when I hear people who do have a family thinking they deserve different treatment just because they have children. But I expect we shall continue to hear: “But I’m a family man...” or “I’ve got a family to feed”.

2. Just heard a fascinating fact in the newsroom. Apparently some men lactate. Granted it’s not a high percentage of the population but there are a reasonable number out there and for some reason the figures are growing. Before you know it someone will blame global warming.

3. While I’m talking about the office, I’m taking a fair bit of flak today as no one is getting any caffeine. Surely everyone cleans the scale out of their kettle with a kitchen knife don’t they? How was I to know the glass was so thin in modern kettles?

4. Stories are starting to flood in about travellers taking up residence in various corners of Shopperland, it must be the season. I’ve somewhat changed my tune on this one and feel it’s important to live and let live. Providing of course, they don’t leave a filthy mess behind them.

5. Fantastic news, the superb 60-page 50th anniversary magazine celebrating News Shopper’s proud half century is now available for sale, priced just £2. Now, I would say this wouldn’t |, but having looked through it I really believe it is a great read and will have you chuckling all the way through.
