Vintage-inspired duo Electro Velvet are representing the UK at the 60th Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna tomorrow.

The unknown UK act, comprising Alex Larke and local girl Bianca Nicholas, will perform fifth with their song Still in Love With You.

Here are 16 essential things you need to know about Bianca.

1. As the headline suggests, Bianca is from Beckenham.

2. She is 26.

3. A budding child actress, aged five Bianca played the lead in a short film called Is It the Design on the Wrapper that won a Palme d’Or award at Cannes Film Festival in 1997.

4. She played a little girl in the Tim Burton-directed and Johnny Depp-starring headless horseman tale Sleepy Hollow in 1999.

5. Bianca has cystic fibrosis, an inherited disease which causes the internal organs – particularly the lungs - to become clogged with thick, sticky mucus. She believes singing helps the condition.

6. To manage the disease, she does 20 minutes of breathing exercises every day and takes 30-40 tablets as well as inhalers and nebulisers and has an injection every morning.

7. Her first taste of the music industry came when she was 15. The charity Starlight Children’s Foundation, providing once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for young people with serious or terminal illnesses, arranged for her to visit a top London studio and record cover songs for a special CD.

8. Her debut single, Hold On to Your Dreams, was released in October 2011. She performed it at the Regent Street Christmas lights switch on and t reached number one on the iTunes Vocal Chart. Here’s the video...

9. The single was recommended by none other than US socialite Paris Hilton, who tweeted: “Love the new single by cystic fibrosis sufferer@BiancaNicholas. Please help Starlightmagic make her dream come true.”

10. Bianca was on The Voice in 2014, singing U2’s One. She sounded great – none of the judges turned around. She also auditioned for The X Factor in 2008.

11. Electro Velvet were formed when Alex reached out on Facebook after seeing Bianca on The Voice.

12. She’s no stranger to the big stage - her charity gigs have seen her performing alongside the likes of Will Young and classical act Blake and before audiences including Prince William and Kate and Prince Harry.

13. Bianca is a big fan of the Eurovision Song Contest. Her first Eurovision memory is spending her pocket money on the cassette tape of Gina G’s Ooh Ahh Just A Little Bit.

14. Bianca loves dogs – the bigger, the better.

15. Bianca is engaged and will get married later this year. She has been planning her wedding in between Eurovision rehearsals and commitments. And no, her fiance is not Alex.
