The palace where women were once sentenced to death is to feature a garden designed by a Bickley woman.

Henry the VIII, who beheaded two of his wives, would never have dreamt that one day a garden would be built in his court to raise awareness for women’s well-being.

A garden designer from Bickley, Wendy Von Buren, is part of the team working to design the new summer garden at Hampton Court.

MORE TOP STORIES The new addition to the world-renowned Hampton Court gardens has been especially designed to symbolise the work of charity Wellbeing of Women.

Panels of flowers cast in concrete will represent loss and a living wall of plants will celebrate the babies and women thriving due to the charity's work.

Ms Von Buren, 45, who lives just off Clemont Road, said: "I think it's important to say it's been a big collaboration project. We have probably got about 90 percent of the garden donated by various sponsors.

"We started this whole project about March last year, we'll started building on the 17th of June and expect to finish on the 27th of June"

The charity funds ground-breaking research into the issues affecting women's health and medicinal, sensory and aromatic plants have been specially selected to match the wellbeing of women theme.

Purple, white and blue flowers will reflect the charity's logo.
