Three thugs who tortured a pregnant teenager and her friend with a hot steam iron at a Bromley hostel have been jailed.

Morgan Riley-Kidney, 22, Horace-Junior Brown-Downie, 24, and Rhys Bryan, 22, burst into the hostel on July 31 last year in a bid to recover £50,000 worth of missing drugs money.

Riley-Kidney, of Hawthorn Grove, Penge, threatened the expectant 17-year-old with a gun before holding a heated iron to her breast and arm for 10 seconds, causing serious burns.

Prosecutor Annabel Darlow QC told the Old Bailey Brown-Downie, of Camlan Road, Lewisham, then threatened to spray bleach into the girl’s eyes.

Riley-Kidney unplugged the iron and branded the second victim, 19-year-old Kelli Kalberg’s face and neck and demanded to know where his money was, the court heard.

Both women, who denied knowing anything about the stolen cash, were escorted from the hostel and forced into a waiting BMW, the jury was told.

The trio, suspecting Ms Kalberg’s boyfriend, Alex Mujica, had something to do with the theft, ordered him to meet them at Elephant and Castle, the court heard.

Once there, Mr Mujica was allegedly threatened with a handgun and ordered at gunpoint to get into the BMW.

The court heard the 17-year-old pregnant girl managed to escape at this point, telling her captors she was miscarrying.

Mr Mujica was ordered to get hold of the money so he called a friend, who had the sense not to come alone, Ms Darlow told the jury.

She told the court Mr Mujica was repeatedly beaten by Bryan and his companions, stripped to his underwear and threatened with sexual assault and shooting.

In the early hours of the morning, Ms Kalberg was dropped back near to the hostel in Bromley.

But the jury heard how Mr Mujica was put into the boot of another car, before finally being released the following morning wearing just his boxer shorts.

He was handed some change to get home and told to “disappear”, Ms Darlow said.

Mr Mujica took the bus to King’s College Hospital where he was treated for his injuries which included two black eyes, fractured eye socket, bruises and perforated ear drum.

Riley-Kidney was sentenced to 22 years, plus three years on extended licence, after admitting three counts of GBH with intent, two of kidnap, false imprisonment and possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Brown-Downie pleaded guilty to two counts of GBH, two counts of kidnap and false imprisonment, and was jailed for 17-and-a-half years.

Estate agent Bryan, of College Road, Crystal Palace, admitted possessing a firearm and ammunition and was found guilty after a trial of false imprisonment and kidnap of the two girls.

He was handed a jail term of 13 years.

All three defendants had previous convictions including possession of drugs.
