A man is offering a £500 reward after he captured a trio who robbed and assaulted him in Penge on CCTV.

James Bonny, 22, leases out storage space near his workplace in Maple Road.

He was lured outside and had his £2,000 Rolex stolen after being punched by three men.

Mr Bonny was pounced on on February 11 at around 2.45pm.

He said: "As I went outside one guy came walking over with his hood up, and I thought something was up.

"We walked round the corner into the enclosed area then two guys followed.

"Then one of them pushed me up against the wall so I hit him.

"They started hitting me; they punched me in the stomach and I went to the floor.

"They were shouting 'give me your watch'."

Leaving his office door ajar he managed to scramble to his feet, grabbing his keys off the floor, and made for the door.

He added: "I tried to slam it shut but one of them stuck their foot in the door. Eventually they wriggled it free and they ran off.

"That's when I looked down and saw my watch was gone, they must have ripped it off my wrist without me noticing.

"People see Rolex's and think they're worth a lot."

News Shopper:

The stolen watch

Shouting for help the neighbouring shop owner came out just as the men were getting away.

He added: "I had my phone, keys, wallet with cash and cards with me which they didn't take; I thought I was going to lose everything.

"I have five different places on my keys, I thought they were going to go in the office where we have TVs, laptops. I was really panicking."

He paid £2,000 for the second-hand watch which had a diamond encrusted edge.

But buying the watch with his 18th birthday money, it had sentimental value as part of the money was given to him by his late Grandmother.

Mr Bonny, from Caterham, added: "I know the watch probably has been sold, but I want to stop it from happening to other people. I'm happy to pay £500 to see them be convicted.

"It was scary at the time, it makes you feel vulnerable. You look over your shoulder.

"If I open the door sometimes I wonder if they're going to come running in. I lock up with a colleague now."

Detective Constable Dan Davies, from Bromley robbery squad, said: “I am appealing to anyone who witnessed this incident or has any information, however small, to contact the incident line or to call Crimestoppers.”
