A Biggin Hill mum has taken a leaf out of Santa's book by delivering presents to local children's hospices.

Sharon Millar, 45, decided to do something different this Christmas.

Director of Millar Clark Accountancy, based at Biggin Hill airport, she reached out to nearby businesses and clients to help her with a Christmas Toy Appeal.

She chose St Christopher's Children's Candle Project in Bromley as one of the recipients for the mound of gifts she collected.

With presents numbering 299, final amounts are yet to be counted after she kickstarted the appeal on December 1.

The mum of one, from Norheads Road, said: "We have had so many people calling us just to say thank you for running the appeal.

"One lady phoned me to tell me that she had had a disabled child many years ago that died because there was just not the care that there is today and she was very proud of us for running the appeal for the hospices.

"I came off of the phone in tears."

She added there would be another drop off after Christmas for any latecomers, after the bulk of gifts was delivered today.

The grandmother-to-be had said she wanted to help families in a time of need, saying: "I can imagine Christmas must be a really hard time, I've got a child myself and to imagine going through Christmas with a dying child is something no parent wants to think about."

She confirmed it would not be the last charity appeal for them, and other recipient Demelza hospice in Kent.
