Police officers were spotted escorting cash pick-ups in Petts Wood.
The coppers accompanied workers from company Loomis, who wear head gear as part of transporting large sums of cash.
The ATMs along Queensway were being emptied from inside supermarket Morrisons.
Zara Suleyman, owners of Zara's on the corner of Queensway, said: "They're [police] looking for suspicious people because someone tried to rob the cash point.
"They just came in and asked if we saw anyone who fitted the descriptions."
She added the police car had been there "for quite a while".
She added: "I think they they're just following the cars that pick up the cash from Morrisons.
"People try to rob it, especially around Christmas time."
