A Taekwondo duo from Biggin Hill dubbed the 'world's strongest couple' have tied the knot.

Last year Chris Pitman, 44, clinched the men's world record for smashing 1,000 roof tiles in the fastest time - with his bare hands.

Securing his win in just over 51 seconds, his new wife Lisa, 40, narrowly missed out on her attempt to claim the women's title at Bromley's Ravenswood School.

Despite the defeat, Mr Pitman got down on one knee after the failed attempt.

Yet she came back with vengeance and crushed the previous record with her time of 83.98 seconds this March.

Suffering massive blood loss at the event in Orpington's Crofton Hall, she passed out after the successful attempt.

Mr Pitman said: "I proposed to Lisa when I broke the men’s record last year and she said ‘Yes, but wait till I have broken my record’."

The couple took their vows at Bromley Court Hotel on Saturday November 29, with the new Mrs Pitman saying: "It was the best day of my life.

"It was absolutely fantastic, we had a brilliant time and the atmosphere was just electric.

"Everyone was in shock. They said ‘Oh my goodness, you’re actually a girl’.

"With the flowers and dresses and makeup and hair, it was very different than smashing tiles.

"It was phenomenal."

Members of the Virtue Taekwondo club, they announced their nuptials at the club's award ceremony, also at the hotel.

Mrs Pitman said the place 'erupted' after the announcement.

Mr Pitman added: "It was a nice way to introduce it to the club.

"We said ‘By the way we got married’ and they gave us a clap and then we got on with the dance."

The newlyweds, from Swievelands Road, are honeymooning in Egypt.
