A prolific burglar who targeted Bromley has been jailed for two years.

David Edward Francis Foster, 32, went on a crime spree over summer committing 18 burglaries across Bromley and Croydon.

Foster, of no fixed abode, was sentenced yesterday October 29 at Croydon Crown Court after admitting to the crimes.

Taking place between July 7 and August 19, Foster began his one man crimewave by stealing alcohol from a catering box at Crystal Palace FC's Selhurst Park, in Whitehouse Lane.

Over the next six weeks Foster mainly stole cash, laptops, DVD players, cameras and other electrical equipment from non-residential buildings.

Foster also targeted a number of schools including two Harris Academy schools in Beckenham and South Norwood, Cypress Junior school in South Norwood, the Phil Edwards Centre in Upper Norwood and Ravensbourne school in Hayes Lane, Bromley.

He was arrested on August 19 after evidence linked him to the July 30 burglary at the Salvation Army building, in Ethelbert Road, Bromley.

At the time of his arrest, Foster was linked to five other crimes either forensically or by CCTV.

However, after being charged with the six burglaries that day, officers made more enquiries and with the help of more footage and forensics were able to charge him with all 18 offences.

Detective Constable Drew Dunmill, from the Forensic Conversion Team based at Croydon which carried out the investigation, said: "Foster targeted shops, business premises and schools over the summer months and along with the value of the goods or cash that he stole, he also caused several thousand pounds worth of damage to the premises.

"He was extremely prolific and was responsible for a big proportion of non-residential burglaries in the Bromley and Croydon area over the summer.

"Foster will be behind bars for a considerable period, which will be reassuring for the local community and those affected."
