A professional golfer-turned copper is helping tackle anti-social behaviour – on an Orpington golf course.

PC Dan Casey, 26, gained a scholarship to The University of Tennessee in the US after school and spent the next few years on the pro circuit.

In 2011, he managed to get through to the final stages of the British Open qualifier.

A year later PC Casey decided to down clubs and turn to law enforcement, but his recent work has seen him return to the course.

Lately the officer is now specialising in safer neighbourhoods and has been working with youths at Orpington Golf Course in St Mary Cray after numerous reports of bad behaviour.

Issues include youngsters driving off-road motorbikes on the playing surfaces, causing thousands of pounds’ worth of damage.

PC Casey’s sergeant, Philip Spaul, said: "The anti-social behaviour and crime taking place in and around the golf club is impacting on the enjoyment of the public and the business.

"We have introduced a number of tactics aimed at arresting and deterring those criminals responsible and we will continue to target these individuals."
