Bromley Council has released information about the latest fraudster to defraud the borough.
Cengiz Kose pleaded guilty to defrauding the authority out of more than £3,000 worth of benefits.
The 48-year-old, formerly of Beckenham Road, Beckenham, appeared at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on October 1.
Kose wrongly claimed housing and council tax benefits totalling £3,239 from October 2012 to September 2013.
He failed to tell the council his rent had reduced, wages had increased, and that he had moved house.
Kose was sentenced to a 12-month community order and as well as paying back the sum in full, will also have to complete 200 hours of unpaid work and pay costs and fees.
Chairman of Bromley’s audit committee, Councillor Neil Reddin, said: “This case shows that even if the amounts defrauded are relatively low we will prosecute cheats.”
