Three out of five people think groups of betting shops have a negative effect on the high street.

40 per cent say the shops encourage problem gamblers.

Two thirds of people want councils to have more powers to protect and enhance high streets in line with community wishes.

63 per cent of people disagree with the current system, which allows betting shops to open without permission.

More than 90 per cent of people have not used a high street betting shop in the past year.

Two out of every five Londoners think the number of gambling branches had risen in the past three years.

Nearly three-quarters of people think there are too many or enough betting shops in their high street, and only four per cent say there are too few.

One in four people say betting shops have led to less choice in the high street.
