BROMLEY Council has outsourced its customer services department but says the jobs will be kept local and there will be no redundancies.

It has given the task of running the department to Liberata, which already runs the council’s revenue and benefits service.

All staff will transfer across with their terms and conditions protected and no redundancies.

The council and Liberata are developing a website where people can go online and pay or apply for services, get information and report any problems seven days a week.

Portfolio holder for resources Councillor Graham Arthur said: “We have to save a further £60m from our budget over the next four years and are looking at everything we do and how we do it.

“When we considered the future of our customer services we were determined to keep the jobs local and retain our committed staff to allow us to maintain consistent and high quality services for residents as well as maximising savings.”
