Councillors offer High Speed Two campaign praise

11:00am Monday 1st April 2013

COUNCIL leader Terry O’Neill has backed residents and community leaders who have set up action groups following the publication of High Speed Two plans.

In a question to full council, Clr Chris Vobe (LAB - Culcheth, Glazebury and Croft) asked Clr O’Neill (LAB - Burtonwood and Winwick) to confirm that the council would look to put forward an alternative to the current line.

It would go through Lymm, and then Culcheth and Hollins Green in north Warrington.

Clr O’Neill told the meeting Warrington's formal response to the Government is currently being finalised, but the authority would work closely with neighbours to lobby the Government to make changes.

Clr Vobe said: "Residents in Culcheth and Hollins Green have shown great community spirit since these plans were published.

“Matt Smith and Bill Brinksman continue to offer support to the respective village action groups and I am grateful to the leader for the recognition he and the council gave to all those who have been involved."
