EVEN the dignitaries got involved when hundreds of people gathered to celebrate the Chinese New Year in style.

Around 240 people watched a series of traditional dances including a lion dance at Crofton Halls, York Rise, Orpington.

And then everyone, including Bromley’s deputy mayor Councillor Ian Payne, joined together for a rendition of PSY’s global smash Gangnam Style.

The event involved performers from the Orpington based Jasmine Tai Chi and Dancing Club along with the Wilmington Chinese Association.

Vikkie Cheng, from Jasmine, said: “It was our first time organising the event and people enjoyed it so much.

“The message we were sending out was that health is the most important thing and take care of your family and then serve the community.”
