Orpington bungalows fire under control

A BLAZE in Orpington has been tackled by firefighters.

Crews now have the fire under control - it affected two bungalows in Borkwood Way, Orpington, and left the roof of both properties alight.

Emergency services were called at 10am this morning (Feb 18).

Four fire engines are at the scene from Orpington, Biggin Hill, Beckenham and Bromley fire stations.

The cause of the incident is currently under investigation. No one was hurt.

Borkwood Way resident Mike Hanchette, 43, lives opposite where the fire took place.

He said: "There was smoke swirling out in the front garden and my daughter said it smelled strange.

"We went out to take a look and there were massive flames in the roof of one of the houses."

I live in the road next to this one and heard the sirens and smelt the acrid smoke this morning, I do hope the residents were able to get out in time.
