SCRABBLING around the office trying to find who has the envelope for your colleague’s leaving present fund looks to be a thing of the past.

And helping your best friend get their dream honeymoon in the Maldives can now be a lot more sophisticated than stuffing cash in a wedding card.

Beckenham-based company ThePresentClub.co.uk was started by Georgette Hewitt because the mother-of-three was amazed by the huge demands being put upon parents to satisfy the continual present needs of their children’s friends.

The website was originally set up for children to create present wishlists which friends and family members could contribute towards.

But, with the help of money from Dragons’ Den investors Peter Jones and Theo Paphitis, it has been rebranded and updated and now features high street brands including Top Shop, House of Fraser, John Lewis and Harrods.

And it is now for all occasions and age groups.

Entrepreneur Georgette Hewitt, from Beckenham, said: “Since the website’s relaunch we have had a couple of hundred schools using it as a way of collecting for teachers and we are going to be pushing this.

“We have about 15,000 wish lists and about 5,000 collections.

“We are going to look internationally as we have been approached by businesses which want to partner up in South Africa and other countries.”

“The Present Club makes buying a gift quick, easy and enjoyable.”

The 36-year-old added: “You simply go online and contribute to the gift, which makes giving towards your best friend’s dream honeymoon in the Maldives or a bike for your nephew easier than ever.

“Whether you wish to give a little or a lot, you can share in a really special present, rather than handing another small and perhaps unwanted gift.”
