Bear Grylls congratulates Bromley woman selected to represent the UK Scouts
Celebrity adventurer Bear Grylls has given his personal congratulations to a young woman from Bromley selected to represent the UK Scouts in Canada this year.
Tahjhana Whyte, 18, was chosen from Scouting's 215 young adults to attend the 14th World Scout Moot in August.
She stood out because of her hunger for adventure and enthusiasm for international Scouting.
Bear Grylls, Chief Scout, said: "Congratulations to Tahjhana who has been selected to go on this trip of a lifetime.
"While lots of people know that Scouting is all about adventure, they often don’t realize that adult volunteers get to do just as much as our young members through their involvement - the World Scout Moot in Canada is the best example of this."
A Moot is an international gathering of Scouts between 18 and 25 years of age.
The 14th World Scout Moot will bring together up to 5,000 young adults from around the world.
Ms Whyte said "Scouting has been my life for so many years, so being accepted shows that my hard work for so many years has played off. It also gives me an opportunity to taking scouting in the UK and shows it off to other countries."
