Bromley police still hunting for riot suspects

News Shopper: Do you recognise this man? Do you recognise this man?

THE riots of August 2011 brought fear to the streets of Bromley and saw looters smash their way into shops across the borough stealing thousands of pounds of goods.

Since then Bromley police has been working tirelessly to bring the offenders to justice.

To date, 1,103 people in south London have been sentenced for their part in the disturbance, for offences including burglaries, criminal damage and assault.

Now they want News Shopper readers to help them identify two people which it says are its most wanted suspects.

They are accused of being a part of the violent disorder on the night of August 8, 2011, and police want to speak to them about what happened.

Bromley borough commander Detective Chief Superintendent Steph Roberts said: "Those who committed crime during the August 2011 disorder and think they have got away with it are mistaken.

“Support from the public has been overwhelming and we have a dedicated team who continue to work tirelessly to identify and bring to justice those involved.

“Forensic and CCTV evidence is still proving invaluable as we continue to hunt down those people who brought violence and terror to our borough and bring them to justice."

The pictures of Bromley’s most wanted are part of a dossier of suspects which police have not been able to identify in the south hub of London – which includes Bexley, Bromley, Greenwich and Lewisham.

CCTV images of these people are on the Met’s website.

Anyone who recognises someone is asked to call the police on 020 7230 1129 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

Since the riots there have been 4,818 arrests and 2,599 have gone to court with 1,103 of these resulting in custodial sentences.
