A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and GBH after an incident in Beckenham.

Police were called to Ernest Grove at 8.40pm yesterday (Jan 24) after reports that a number of people had been assaulted.

Three ambulance crews and the medical team from London's Air Ambulance were also called to the scene.

Four patients were treated.

A 58-year-old man was taken to hospital suffering from injuries to his arm and stomach.  His injuries are not believed to be life threatening, although he remains in intensive care.

A woman, 54, was taken to hospital with injured hands and a 29-year-old woman was taken to hospital with wounds to her hands and neck.

A short while later police arrested a 28-year-old man in Lloyds Way, Beckenham, on suspicion of attempted murder and GBH.  He was treated for a head injury at hospital and remains in custody at a south London police station.

The parties are known to each other.

Mavis Miller, 70, retired, who lives in Ernest Grove, said: "There was a lot of noise and police sirens.

"Three or four girls came running out into the street screaming 'please help!'

"It was horrific. The screams and the noise was just awful.

"We've never had any problems (with that house), this is a sleepy little part of the world."

Inquiries continue and are led by Bromley police officers.
