BEXLEY and Bromley Library Service are looking for volunteers to help provide its home library service.

Homeowners in both boroughs benefit from the service, which brings the library to people who cannot travel to their local library.

Volunteers visit readers every month offering a selection of books to those who have signed up to the service, including large print editions and books on CD.

Bexley Council’s cabinet member for leisure services Councillor Don Massey said: "Our housebound readers are always delighted to see their volunteers.

“The service is a lifeline for many of them, providing a friendly face and a way of helping them to continue to enjoy books.

"The volunteers are enthusiastic readers themselves and understand what it would be like to be without access to books."
