THE online consultation over the future of South London Healthcare Trust has begun.

The website, run by the office of trust special administrator Matthew Kershaw, went live today (November 2) giving SLHT users the chance to have their say.

Interested parties have until midnight on December 13 to fill out an online consultation form by visiting tsa.nhs.uk/tell-us-what-you-think

Submissions will help inform the final recommendations Mr Kershaw makes to the government early next year.

In his interim report to the health secretary on Monday, October 29, Mr Kershaw recommended SLHT be broken up with other organisations taking over the management and delivery of the NHS services it provides.

Other key recommendations:

• Developing Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup, into a Bexley Health Campus, providing day case elective surgery, endoscopy and radiotherapy.

• The closure of Lewisham Hospital A&E department with emergency care for south east London provided by King's College Hospital, St Thomas's, Queen Elizabeth, Woolwich and the Princess Royal University Hospital, Farnborough.

• The Department of Health should provide additional funds to the local NHS to cover the excess costs of the private finance initiative buildings at Queen Elizabeth's Hospital, Woolwich, and the Pru in Farnborough.

Matthew Kershaw was appointed to run SLHT after it was plunged into administration in July having ended 2011 with a deficit of £69m.
