11:38am Tuesday 23rd October 2012 in Bromley By Heloise Wood
A WOMAN had a miraculous escape after a lorry overturned in West Wickham High Street and crushed her car.
Miraculously she escaped without serious injury after being cut out of her car by firefighters.
A Bromley police spokesman said: "A tipper lorry fully laden with crushed vehicles and other metals turned over on to its side while travelling around the roundabout.
"As it did so, the 40 tonne cargo tipped out on to a Vauxhall Corsa driven by an elderly female waiting at the junction of Manor Park Road.
"It also spilled out on to the path next to the church.
"Somewhat incredibly, the crushed vehicles and metal were pulled from the Vauxhall Corsa, and after the roof of her vehicle was cut away, she was found with a few scratches and very much alive."
The Vauxhall Corsa was stationary at the time of the accident.
The lorry driver were taken to the Princess Royal University Hospital, in Farnborough Common, Orpington, and the 63-year-old driver of the Vauxhall Corsa, was taken to King's College Hospital, in Denmark Hill, to be treated for minor injuries and shock.

Lorry drivers are some of the best on the road. The amount of times I see other roads users put themselves in danger with a lorries. Re-education is the way not blaming haulage companies. That's a feeble way of pushing the blame onto the wrong party.
