It’s been a couple of weeks since my last blog about my search for a flatmate but I still haven’t found my perfect roomie.
I’ve had some more strange calls regarding the possibility of sharing the room, one from a guy who asked if he could share the room with a girl, but he assured me she was not his
girlfriend!
Over the past three weeks I’ve had four viewings, made and received countless phone calls, sent numerous messages out (some which have resulted in automated responses and some which have gone
completely unanswered) and had contact with several people who have agreed to come around and then cancelled at the last minute after finding somewhere else.
There have been a couple of people who I would have been happy to live with but they’ve all ended up finding places they liked more.
Then I thought I had found my new flatmate. A girl replied to my ad who was a reporter on a local paper known to me and who knew some people who I knew.
We had a good old chat on the phone and an hour-long viewing (it was about half an hour before she even saw the room) and I thought my search was over and I had possibly found a new friend.
I sorted out a contract and she was about to pay in the first month’s rent and deposit and move in this weekend.
But this morning she suddenly broke the news to me that she had found somewhere cheaper living with a friend and as a struggling reporter she was taking that place instead.
So I am back to square one, putting my social life on hold as I wait in for people to come around then get let down at the last minute, frantically sending emails out to all and sundry hoping that I
get in there before anyone else and hoping beyond hope that my search will be over soon.
I am sure my boyfriend, my family, my friends and colleagues also hope that this week I might finally find my future flatmate so I will stop plaguing them with my latest viewing trauma!
