The story that everyone is talking about today is the horrific plane crash in Madrid.
One of the accounts I read this morning was particularly emotive, describing it as close to hell on earth as you could get and saying how rescuers just touching the bodies were getting burnt
themselves.
Only a handful of people managed to survive the fireball, but hearing about the crash it is a wonder anyone survived at all.
The big death toll and the circumstances (crashing into dry ground, turning the plane into a fireball) mean the story has had huge coverage on TV, websites and newspapers.
But I was quite surprised that two of today’s tabloids decided to give a small mention of the crash and instead focussed the rest of the front page on Gary Glitter.
I understand that the paedophile/shamed pop star’s fight to get any country to accept him is big news but I am sure it was front page news yesterday and surely a plane erupting in flames
killing 153 is more worthy of a front?
But I suppose this is indicative of the celebrity-obsessed society we are now in where what one `celebrity’ gets up to is big news and we are convinced there is a paedophile on every
corner.
