MP to attend public meeting on South London Healthcare Trust
A PUBLIC meeting is being held to debate the future of the area's financially-crippled health service.
South London Healthcare Trust, which runs the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich along with three others, is facing administration due to its massive deficit in a move by the Department for Health which has provoked wide debate.
On July 19, a meeting organised by health campaigners and open to all will include an appearance by Greenwich and Woolwich MP Nick Raynsford, who has criticised the administration move.
The meeting takes place from 7.30pm at Charlton House.
Members of the GMB union have also launched an online petition calling on the government to provide financial assistance to the trust.
The petition states: "It cannot be right, that as country, we are prepared to bailout the banks but not our NHS."

Our government currently spends £50 million per day on the EU (around £14-18 billion per annum, depending on the current level of rebate)... The shortfall for the trust which has three hospitals on PFI £1 billion...
