Man accused of attempted murder did not stab victim, court told
A MAN accused of attempted murder did not stab the victim, a court has heard.
Michael Spencer, 22, of Lincoln Road in Erith – also known as Michael Osumi – along with a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old who cannot be named for legal reasons, all deny attempted murder, wounding with intent, unlawful wounding and violent disorder.
The victim, Blessing Eyewu-Ago, was stabbed seven times, including to the side of the head, in an attack in Norman Road, Belvedere, on November 30 last year.
Stephen Akinsanye defending Spencer at Woolwich Crown Court today (May 22), told jurors: “Michael Spencer did not stab Blessing Eyewu-Ago.
“He did not tell anyone to stab Blessing Eyewu-Ago.
“He did not know Blessing Eyewu-Ago was going to be stabbed.”
Mr Akinsanye told the court his client arrived from hospital to Bromley police station after the incident without an opportunity to speak to his co defendant.
He claims Spencer gave officers an “honest account” of what happened in his interview while the co defendants, he claimed, had time for “tailor making” their stories.
The trial continues.
