BEXLEY Council has been congratulated for its work in the borough at an awards ceremony.

Bexley Civic Society presented cabinet member for regeneration Councillor Linda Bailey with certificates at its meeting last week in Bexley’s St John Fisher Hall in Thanet Road.

It follows the council's work in improvements made in Shenstone Park in Crayford, the Cob sculpture in Belvedere, and the relocation of the Erith Mural.

The event formed part of the Charles Burr Memorial Awards initiative, which recognises improvements made throughout the borough to new and restored buildings and landscapes.

Chairman of the civic society Ken Chamberlain said: "There have been a number of impressive projects around the borough recently and the projects this year have created inviting and attractive public spaces for local people."

Director of environment and well being at the council, Peter Ellershaw said the council was "delighted".
