A DAY after his killer was found guilty, family and friends of a murdered television executive held a vigil at the place where Gagandip Singh's body was found in the boot of a burning car.

Mr Singh, aged 21, of Langdale Crescent, Bexleyheath, was killed on February 26 last year. His body was found in a blue Mercedes C-class in Angerstein Lane, Blackheath, at around 2am.

Around 40 people visited Angerstein Lane on Saturday, the eve of the anniversary of his death, to lay flowers and pay tribute to Mr Singh, whose own father Charanjit was murdered in India three years ago.

His sister Amandip told News Shopper: "It's not the outcome that we wanted, but we are glad the trial finished before the 26th.

"We were worried it wasn't going to, but we are happy it has.

"We come back here all the time, and people from all over the world have joined us today to remember my brother."

Yesterday, a memorial service was held at Woolwich Sikh temple.

At the Old Bailey last week, screams from the public gallery greeted the verdict as 20-year-old Harinder Shoker, of Charlton Park Lane, Charlton, was found guilty of murder in a majority verdict.

Jurors, who had considered their verdicts for 40 hours, found 20-year-old Darren Peters, of Shooters Hill Road, Blackheath, guilty of manslaughter.

Mundill Mahil, aged 20, of Regent Guest House, Maidstone Road, Chatham was cleared of murder but found guilty of GBH with intent. She was left in tears by the verdict.

During the trial the court heard that in August 2010, Mr Singh had attempted to rape Mahil, and after this incident, the once close friends fell out.

Mahil later lured Mr Singh to her student house in Brighton where Peters and Shoker lay in wait to attack him before he was put in the boot of the car and driven to Blackheath where the vehicle was set alight.

Although Mr Singh, who ran the Sikh TV channel, had suffered severe head injuries, a post mortem gave the cause of death as inhalation of fire fumes.

The trio will be sentenced on Wednesday.
