Gravesend RNLI braves fog to rescue Erith sailor

THE Gravesend lifeboat sailed through thick fog to rescue a man with breathing difficulties on board a ship last night (February 6).

Crew were called at 9:15pm to the boat, which was moored close to Erith.

Two lifeguards were on board the ship and they helped the man ashore to a waiting ambulance.

The man was taken to a London hospital for further examination.

This call out is the Gravesend lifeboats 19th of the year – on the same date in 2011 the crew had only been called out eight times.
