HUNDREDS of residents celebrated the progress of the Larner Road Regeneration at a fun day on September 10.

Over 250 people living on the Erith estate turned out to enjoy donkey rides, circus and street dance workshops and karaoke events.

Residents also played the ‘regeneration game,’ a game produced especially for Larner Road that helps to explain the process of regeneration to players.

Players were able to progress round the board by landing on options including ‘get planning permission’ but were hindered if they reached the likes of ‘wait for government funding.’

The event was organised by the Larner Road Residents Association and Orbit South Housing Association.

Organiser Caroline Field said: “We are delighted so many people came along to celebrate the changes that have taken place at Larner Road so far.”

The £100m Larner Road Regeneration project aims to re-develop the entire estate.

Plans are in place to demolish the existing tower blocks and replace them with family houses and low rise apartments.

Re-location of residents from the tower blocks by housing association Orbit South is currently well ahead of schedule.
