THERE will be an historic theme running through this year’s Erith Riverside Festival.
Styled on the 1940s to coincide with the 70th anniversary of D Day, there will be music in the arena from Jeff “Two-Tone” Boogie while the Erith Old Timers show off their dancing skills and invite everyone else to join in.
Bexley Archaelogical Group will show the finds from its on-going archaelogical dig in the borough.
People can bring along anything they have found for an expert opinion.
Temesvikings re-enactment group will be setting up their encampment and the Medway Queen Preservation Society will bring its exhibition and replica of the paddle steamer which rescued 7,000 men from the beaches of Dunkirk in 1940.
There will also be a model of the Titanic whose creator will be sketching pencil portraits.
In the arena there will be performances from Europa Gym Club, the SERLS Friendship Russian dancers, Riverside Reflections Dance Group and Mickey the Magician.
Erith Playhouse is offering backstage tours and people can also visit Erith Rowing Club.
There will also be a chance to take part in workshops with Erith Drum Club.
With lots of stalls, sideshows and other attractions, the festival runs from 10am to 4pm on June 6 in Riverside Gardens and Erith High Street North. Entry is free.
