TEENAGE diabetic Gavin Griffiths who has raised thousands of pounds for charity is launching a new group for young people with the same condition.
Gavin, 18, of Luddesdon Road, Erith, has never allowed his diabetes to rule his life and has run hundreds of miles to raise cash for Diabetes UK.
Last year he won the charity’s Volunteer Achievement award.
Now he has put together arrangements to launch a group for fellow young diabetics aged between 14 and 40, so they can share their experiences and give each other support and encouragement, as well as enjoy social activities.
The launch will be at the Holiday Inn in Southwold Road, Bexley Village at 7pm on March 30 , where a room has been set aside with refreshments.
Gavin is also planning another fundraising event in August and will be running the 67-mile coastline of the Isle of Wight again this year.
This time he hopes to get a number of cyclists to take part and is arranging two live music events with all the proceeds going to Diabetes UK.
People can also contact the group by email at youngdiabeticgroup@youngdiabetic.co.uk
