ERITH: Guides get their thinking caps on

IT was a day when the Guiding family across the world congregated to think about the meaning of the movement.

Erith and Crayford District Guides were no exception as they gathered at Christ Church, Erith, to take part in World Thinking Day Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and the senior section from across Erith and Crayford were also joined by County Commissioner, Caroline Thomas.

The theme of the event was friendship and everyone wore a friendship stick round their neck during the service, which was led by church reader Jim Bennett.

The service also included a number of readings which concentrated on the history of Guiding, friendship, worldwide Guiding and Guiding today.

After each reading another piece was added to the creation of one giant friendship stick which, when finished, was more than nine feet high.

The Guides also paraded the flags of each unit as well as the district flags, the county standard, division standard and the world flag.
